Looking at what's already selling. Understanding what buyers appear to want. Finding gaps in existing books. Exploring different audiences. And, most importantly, deciding whether an idea is worth pursuing before investing hours of work into it.

What Is The Free Creator Hub And KDP Opportunity Reports?
The Free Creator Hub is a new resource centre I've created for Amazon KDP publishers and digital creators. At the heart of it are my weekly KDP Opportunity Reports.
Every Friday, I'll research a different part of the Amazon marketplace and publish a new report exploring potential book opportunities. The aim isn't to throw hundreds of random niche ideas at you.
Instead, each report focuses on a particular market and looks at what appears to be happening inside it.
- What types of books are buyers interested in?
- Where is the competition strongest?
- Are there more focused opportunities hiding within the larger niche?
- Could one good idea become an entire series?
These are the kinds of questions I want the reports to help answer.
What Is Inside A KDP Opportunity Reports?
Each report is designed to provide practical research that you can use as a starting point for your own publishing decisions.
Depending on the niche being researched, a report may explore:
- Current books and positioning within the market
- Buyer interests and potential audiences
- Competition levels
- Market gaps and underserved angles
- Potential book concepts
- Series opportunities
- Pricing considerations
- Basic royalty potential
- The strongest opportunities discovered
- Practical ideas for what you could create next
I want to make one thing clear. These reports aren't promising guaranteed sales or income. Nobody can realistically promise that. Instead, they're designed to help you research first and create second. If a 15-minute read helps you avoid spending three days creating the wrong book, the research has already done its job.
The First KDP Opportunity Reports Are Available Now
I've started the Creator Hub with two very different areas of Amazon KDP.
Issue #001: Parenting Niche Opportunity Report
The first report explores the parenting niche. Parenting is obviously an enormous market, so simply creating another general parenting book would mean competing against thousands of established titles.
Instead, the report looks deeper into the market for more focused audiences, problems and potential book opportunities. It also explores how individual ideas could potentially be expanded into a larger book series.
Issue #002: Bear Colouring Book Opportunity Report
The second report moves into a completely different area of publishing: children's colouring books.
So, rather than simply asking whether bear colouring books sell, the report explores different ways the theme could be approached. Different age groups, themes, positioning and series possibilities can turn one broad idea into several much more focused book concepts.
Therefore, that's the type of thinking I want the Creator Hub to encourage.
Coming Next: Children's Activity Books
The next KDP Opportunity Report will explore the Children's Activity Books market.
This is another huge category, which means the interesting part isn't simply discovering that children's activity books exist. It's finding the opportunities within it. We'll be looking at different activity book concepts, audiences, competition, buyer appeal and potential series ideas.
Issue #003 will be released on Friday, 14 August 2026.
And after that, we'll move on to another market.
Why Am I Giving These KDP Reports Away For Free?
There's actually a very simple reason. I want to build something useful. Over the years I've created Amazon KDP books, publishing systems, software, graphics and digital products.
But I don't want everything I publish to be another sales pitch. I've been on plenty of email lists myself where every message eventually becomes:
- Buy this.
- Buy that.
- Another offer ends tonight.
That's not what I want the Free Creator Hub to become. I'd rather give people a reason to look forward to hearing from me.
So the idea is simple.
Every Friday = another useful publishing report.
So, you might discover an idea you want to pursue. Then you might find a niche you'd never previously considered. You might take one of the ideas and approach it completely differently.
Or you might simply enjoy seeing what we've discovered in the marketplace that week.
That's fine too. The value comes first.
Building A Growing KDP Opportunity Reports Research Library
This is the part I'm particularly interested in seeing develop. Today, the Creator Hub is small.
We've got our first reports and we're just getting started. But what happens after 10 weeks?
Or 25 weeks? Or 52 weeks?
We could eventually have KDP Opportunity Reports covering areas such as children's books, colouring books, activity books, puzzle books, workbooks, nonfiction, educational books, seasonal publishing opportunities and dozens of individual niches.
Instead of another lead magnet that gets downloaded once and forgotten about, the Free Creator Hub can become a growing publishing research library.
Every new report makes the resource centre a little more valuable than it was the week before. And that's something I think is worth building.
